About Silence
Sonny Casey’s delicate, distinctive voice centres in Silence. Enveloped sparingly with warm acoustic guitar, elevating percussion and aching strings, Silence is a heartbreaking letter to the parent that didn’t do their best.
''This song is all the questions the child in me wanted to ask them but couldn’t.''
Produced by Kealan Kenny (Pa Sheehy), with drums by Tom Osander (Damien Rice, Lisa Hannigan) and string arrangement by Aine Delaney (Leif Vollebekk, Rob Moose), Silence marks Sonny Casey as a compelling new voice in the ever-evolving Irish folk scene.
At sixteen, Irish folk singer-songwriter Sonny Casey began busking on the streets of Galway before busking her way all across Europe.
Raised on Springsteen and traditional Irish Sean-nós singing, her music is shaped by the wild landscape of her home in Connemara, weaving traditional Irish vocal elements into a contemporary folk sound. Her music centres around warm, intimate vocals and narrative songwriting.
The latest upcoming single 'Silence' is set for release on October 16th 2026.
